Simon Hudson is a singer-songwriter whose highly original music weaves a captivating blend of world, roots and folk, with influences including Carlinhos Brown, The Cat Empire, Jose Gonzalez, Neil Finn, and Paul Simon.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, he’s toured throughout Europe, Brazil, Cuba and Australia, solo and with his band.

Simon’s latest album ‘Aguas Profundas’ meaning Deep Waters will be launched globally (Jun 2020) on label Songs and Whispers (Germany), distributed by Broken Silence (Germany) and published through Sentric Music (UK).
In his live show, Simon mixes folk, soul and funky originals with upbeat and irresistible world-music covers which are guaranteed to get the dance floor bumping.
His background includes African and Latin percussion, and other instruments across many genres. He has won multiple songwriting awards.
His five international tours from 2014 - 2019 have included appearances on German national radio, Cuban national TV, and pan-American radio.
History
2023
It started with going into The Aviary Studios in Abbotsford to record a new album with full band. Followed by overdubs, mixing and mastering, Simon also recorded a video clip for the first single Looking For A Map. After releasing two singles Looking For A Map and One More Chance, the full album Aguas Profundas releases in June and launches at the Retreat Hotel in Brunswick. After that Simon heads out on a tour of Germany with his wife and 2-year-old boy.
2022
2022 was.. well, 2022. It marked a somewhat return to normal life, with gigs, rehearsals and planning the recording of a new album.
2021
With the challenges brought by 2021, Simon has focused on writing material for his next album. Having also had the incredible fortune to bring his baby son into the world this year, he has also focussed his energy on spending as much time as possible with him.
2020
In 2020 Simon released the video clip for Your Boat, shot on tour in Cuba. He also released his latest EP Islands, including singles Travelling Salesman and Magalenha.
2019
In 2019 he returned to Cuba, performing in the internationally acclaimed Cubadisco festival. He also appeared on Cuban national television, on popular show Cuerda Viva, including three songs with his band and an interview. He also interviewed on radio station Radio Havana Cuba, which is broadcast throughout North and South America. Back in Melbourne, he finished off tracking on his next release, EP Islands.
2018
In 2018 Simon launched his latest single Travelling Salesman. It’s an ode to the life of the touring musician – visiting many places with suitcase and guitar in hand, the hardest place to find is home. It’s the first single from his forthcoming album Islands due early 2020. He also toured to Cuba and Brazil, playing shows across both countries.
2017
In 2017 Simon toured solo in Brazil, and with his 3-piece band in Europe, playing more than 40 shows across 10,000km in 3 countries.
2016
In 2016 Simon launched his debut full-length album Earthman worldwide. Three singles were released, with funds for the album raised using Australian crowdfunder Pozible. The album was launched to critical acclaim at the famous Thornbury Theatre, Melbourne.
2015

2014
After the sold-out launch of his EP, Simon toured across Victoria and South Australia, playing festivals and rocking countless rooms full of happy punters. With radio airplay throughout Melbourne, Adelaide and Germany, he placed at number two on Triple J Unearthed roots chart. He also released the video clip for ‘Today’. Following that, he launched into his first European tour, including shows across Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.
